Home Remedies and Natural Cures

When the lining of your bronchial tubes become inflamed, bronchitis is often the result. The tubes carry air to and from the lungs, and can become compromised when you’re already suffering a cold or other respiratory infection. Chronic cases of bronchitis often arise in smokers because their bronchial tubes are constantly irritated or inflamed.

Acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses – generally the same kind that are responsible for colds and the flu. In chronic cases, smoking cigarettes is the leading cause. Air pollution, dusty living conditions, and toxic gases in the environment may contribute to the development and worsening of bronchitis. Factors that increase your risk of bronchitis also include exposure to irritants in the workplace (such as chemical fumes) and a lowered immune system.
